This article (click the post title) discusses teens' obsession with their image and weight. In conjunction with the article I found this cool flash video about "real beauty." (If you are unable to view it here, you can go to YouTube and search "dove" and "evolution.") I bet you watch it more than once!
I'd like to know what you think about the claims in this article and the movie clip online. Also, do you think these unrealistic expectations are different for boys and girls? If so, why? At what point in a person's life does "beauty"discrimination start?

No because boys and girls dont like there image. They think that they are fat, ugly etc. I think this starts around 11 to 12 years old because they are starting middle school and people are mean and vile. They make fun of people because they feel bad about there self.
Maybe kids dont really have a slef esteem because they're going through there phases of becoming an adult. These kids look like they really hate themeselves.
In the video i think its cool how u can edit someones face like that.
No i think they aren't different because most kids hate the way they look, even if they look skinny or as pretty as can be. they believe what other people tell them.
This usually starts at the age of 12 or 13 i think because they are going off to middle school.
I thought it was pretty cool how you can change the way someone looks on a computer. I dont think that this is and unrealistic expectaion for girls and boys because sometimes boys or girls can feel self-consious about them self whether they are skinyy or fat, pretty or ugly."Beauty"discrimination probally starts around 11 to 13 years of age.
I don't think they are different because I think most kids don't like the way they look. It usually starts at the age of 11 to 12.
this was really different for me, i watched it like 5 times. i think this starts when kids get into middle school because people start frying their hair with straighning irons and plastering on makeup, trying to look gorgeous, when according to the clip, gorgeous is hardly even real.
The video was cool, because the way they could change peoples appearence.
Yes I think it is dofferent for girls and boys because boys could care less about their weight. On the other hand girls are always asking how they look no matter where they go.
The discrimination usually starts at the beginning of middle school end of high school.
I thought the video was cool. And girl care about about there weight because of there apperence and they are more self confecident and boys can acually care less about there weight.
I liked the video. I think girls care about there weight more then boy becouse girls are asking how they look even if some aready said they look good. Boys dont really care about there weight.
I think that girls are harder on themselves then boys because they want to be 'the it girl'. They want to be skiny like and tall. I think this satrts at the ages from 13 to 17.
I am very mad that my computer would not let me watch this short movie.
