"The Weeping Mother"
It was almost midnight on a stormy night in Atlanta, when my brothers Robert
Danny and I pulled up to the Host Inn. It was old, run down, and completely surrounded by fog. But despite the way it looked we were tired and decided to try to get a room. Inside as my eyes adjusted to the darkness and gloom, we could barley breath because the lobby had a musty cigar smell I was afraid that we had walked into the Bates Motel from the movie Psycho. Danny got us checked in and as we got to the room we saw that it was number thirteen. Although I am not superstitious I knew this would be an unlucky trip to Six Flags considering that earlier that night our reservations at the Hilton had mysteriously been canceled. When we opened the door to our room we all felt a cold breeze as we entered which was odd because the air conditioner wasn’t on and all the windows were closed.
After we unpacked and fought about who was sleeping where we unpacked and
went to bed “Don’t let the bed bugs bite” Danny said of course he had to bring up the terrifying thought because I did think there were bugs in the bed. Just before falling asleep I hear the T.V. “Can you turn the volume down?” I asked. “We didn’t turn it on” they replied. Robert got up turned it off, and seconds later it turned back on. “Danny! Stop doing that” I yelled. “Its not me” he swore. “Don’t look at me” Robert said. At that point we decided to leave it on. I didn’t mind a little light. That inn was creepy and although they wouldn’t admit it, I think Robert and Danny were scared too as we drifted off to sleep.
At around 4:00 a.m. I woke up to the sounds of my brothers voices “Who are you
and why are you in our room?” Robert asked. I looked at my brothers and saw them
talking but I couldn’t see who they were talking to. “Who are you talking to?” I asked. “We don’t know, when we woke up she was here looking at Danny and I crying. We haven’t been able to get much out of her except that she can’t find her sons, and she thinks we might be them. She’s crying so much we can’t hardly understand her.” Robert replied. “Hey, you don’t see her?” Danny asked with concern. As I shook my head no, I was wondering if I was dreaming or if my brothers were crazy. They started screaming, I had no clue what was going on until Robert told me she had tried to hug Danny but she passed right through him like a ghost. The Terror on their faces assured me that they were telling the truth then we ran out of the room in our pajamas in the hallway I felt something grab my leg “Ouch” I shrieked as I went tumbling to the ground. Robert helped me up and we kept running for our lives.
As we were flying across the lobby the guy behind the counter said “Oh you must
have been in room thirteen. I guess you met Jessica Grave A.K.A The Weeping Mother.”
“You’ve seen her too?” Robert asked. “No, but she has appeared to Brothers around your age that stay in that room.” Then he went on to explain that on a stormy night the wind was whispering back in 1955 Jessica Grave and her two sons Jordan and Josh were on their way to dinner when a deer ran in front of the car and Jessica Grave while trying to avoid hitting the deer sent the car flying off a cliff. When the paramedics arrived they announced that Jordan and Josh had died but Jessica was perfectly fine. Jessica was so devastated that she came back to the inn and stabbed herself to death in that very room.
He offered to put us in another room but we just wanted to get as far away from
that place as possible so we checked out. It was raining cats and dogs as we were pulling away I looked back at the Inn and saw that the sign didn’t say Host Inn at all. There was a flashing G in front of Host, The Inn’s name was really The Ghost Inn. When I told Robert and Danny to look back at the sign I saw a familiar look of terror in their faces and I knew they weren’t looking at the sign. Jessica Grave was sitting right next to me.
